Depression

Salaams,

I just wanted to cover a topic which is very close to home for me.

Im currently battling bad depression which i've had on and off since i was 15.

I've not had the best of upbringings and when my parents split and divorced when i was 15 i guess thats when it all started.

It always takes something bad or traumatic to trigger my depression off and i can remember the last time i had it was after i had my son but back than it was post natal depression.

Now, im no doctor but i'm speaking from experience here so below you'll find some handy tips and insha'Allah it will help you :)

WHAT IS DEPRESSION?

Many people say "im feeling depressed" and in most cases these "feelings" disappear but sometimes they remain with you and start to affect daily life.  It's a feeling of hopelessness like "im nt good enough" "i cant do this"

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION?

There are quite few symptoms so i'll only name a few and at the end of this blog i'll put up a website where it will give you a more in depth description
~agiatation
~crying a lot
~forgetfulness
~lack of sleep or finding it difficult to sleep
~ loss of appetite or finding you eat more
~you distance your self from other
the list goes on

WHAT CAUSES DEPRESSION?

It's not just one cause that causes depression..there are many things that can trigger it off. It could be someone close to you has passed away, a trauma has happened, a life change. Again the list goes on.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP YOURSELF?

The main thing you have to ask yourself is "Am i really depressed or is it just one of those days?"
If you feel like the symptoms have gone on for  while and you feel like yes, you do need help than there are some charities that can help talk. You may feel like talking doesn't help (and ive thought that many times, and still do now) but it des help. You need to open up and speak what is on your mind in order fr you to get the right help. Who cares if you get emotional and cry, that's part of getting it all out and blimey, the amount of times ive cried, i'm surprised i still have tears left!! I'll list below a charity that can help you talk things through and give you guidance.
If you feel like you need to see your G.P than do it, they will also help you figure out what route to ake whether it be medication or councelling adn they to will help put you in touch with proffesionals :)
